Trader robbed of car at gunpoint

AMRITSAR: Four miscreants took away a car, Rs 2.85 lakh in cash and cellphones from a local trader at gunpoint near Jandiala Guru here yesterday. The cash and cellphones were in the car.

Four miscreants took away a car, Rs 2.85 lakh in cash and cellphones from a local trader at gunpoint near Jandiala Guru here yesterday.

Complainant Kunal Dhawan of Jhujar Avenue, said, “I was going to Mehta town in my car. Around 10:15 am when I reached near Lalka Nagar village, a white car rammed into my vehicle from behind. My car skidded off road. Three persons with covered face came out of the car. Two of them had pistols and the other was equipped with a sharp-edged weapon.”

“They threatened me to give the key of car, which I gave to them. After that, the accused fled away with the car,” he added.

The complainant said he was carrying Rs 2.85 lakh in cash, three cellphones and business documents in the car. The Jandiala police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the Arms Act against four unidentified persons.

Man held with pistol

A person was arrested after the police recovered a country-made pistol from him here yesterday. The accused has been identified as Jaspreet Singh, alias Gifty, of Ram Nagar.

ASI Vinod Kumar said the accused was stopped at a checkpoint. While checking, cops recovered a .32 bore country-made pistol, 13 bullets and stolen motorcycle from the accused. A case under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused.
