NIT student cremated

Hamirpur: NIT student Akshay Kumar, who died at Shikari Devi hills in Mandi district, was cremated at his native village Tihra near Sujanpur here on Sunday. Notably, the victim was among two students of the NIT who were reported missing on January 6 as they had not reached home after leaving the NIT hostel on January 5. The bodies of both students - Akshay and his friend Navneet - were found buried in snow in Shikari Devi hills. Abhinav Kumar, younger brother of Akshay, lit the pyre while hundreds of people paid tribute to the budding engineer. Former Chief Minister PK Dhumal conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family. oc
