Congress President Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and Bollywood actor Sonu Sood are among the Punjab Congress’s 40 star campaigners for next month’s assembly elections.

As it gears up for what is being considered a largely three-way battle, the Congress has released a list if campaigners that include current and former chief ministers — such as Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gelhlot and former Punjab chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal.

Among the top AICC leaders on the Congress juggernaut are AICC general secretary Ambika Soni, former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar, former union ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde and Pawan Kumar Bansal and AICC general secretaries Digvijay Singh and Mukul Wasnik.

Rajasthan Congress president Sachin Pilot and UPCC president Raj Babbar will also be part of the Congress campaign.

Punjab is scheduled to vote on February 4.
