Urban Development Minister Sarveen Chaudhary on Wednesday inaugurated a primary health centre (PHC) at Naganpat in the Shahpur Assembly segment. It will cater to 20,000 residents of 23 villages.

Sarveen said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, during his first visit to Shahpur, had announced a primary health centre for Naganpath.

She said the PHC would work from the Panchayat Bhawan building for the time being. Land for the new building had been transferred to the department concerned.

The minister said under the Atal Aashirwad Yojana, a delivery kit was being provided to newborn babies at both government and private hospitals free of cost.

She thanked the Chief Minister for upgrading Shahpur Hospital to the 100-bed health facility. She said a doctor and a pharmacist had already joined the new PHC.

The Urban Development Minister said a detailed project report (DPR) for the second phase of the Bandi- Kalyara-Naganpat road project was being prepared and a DPR for Bhanooi via Thoolabasti was also nearing completion.

Earlier, Chief Medical Officer Dr Gurdharshan Gupta accorded a warm welcome to the minister and briefed her about various health schemes.
