Chandan Shashti observed with fervour

JAMMU: On the auspicious day of Chandan Shashti, a hawan was organised by Shri Alakh Sahiba Trust.

On the auspicious day of Chandan Shashti, a hawan was organised by Shri Alakh Sahiba Trust. Hundreds of devotees took part in the religious event. A similar function was organised at the temple at Bantalab.

Goddess Shashti, worshipped as a bestower of child to the childless parents, a daylong religious function is observed by married women.

A fast is observed by women for the protection of infants. Among the Kashmiri Hindus, the day is greatly revered. At Mata Roop Bhawani temple at Talab Tillo, mantras and shlokas were recited. Similar events were observed at different temples in Jammu. At Anuradhapuram, Bantalab, where a replica of original shrine of Pokhribal has been constructed, rituals was observed. Hundreds of women took part in the event.
