Ludhiana, March 20

The employees of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation under the banner of the Municipal Karamchari Sanjukat Committee staged a protest outside the Zone A Office of the civic body at Mata Rani Chowk on Tuesday.

The protest was staged against the non-payment of salaries to the Municipal Corporation employees by the state government.

The members of Municipal Safari Union, Municipal Workers Union, Municipal Mechanics Union and Disposal Workers Union took part in the protest. The protestors raised the slogans against the state government and Municipal Corporation authorities for failing to release the salaries of the Municipal Council employees.

Comrade Vijay Kumar, general secretary of the Safai Labour Union said the Municipal Corporation employees have not been paid salaries for past eight to nine months by the government.

“We have not been paid salaries for past many months due to which we have been facing tough times. It has become difficult for us to meet our daily expenses,” said Vijay Kumar while demanding from the state government to release the salaries of the Municipal Corporation employees at the earliest.

The protestors warned that if their salaries were not released in near future they would be forced to go on indefinite strike and only the Municipal Corporation authorities and the state government would be responsible for that. Bharirath Paliwal of Municipal Workers Union, Mahipal of Disposal Workers Union and Gurjit Singh Jagpal of Municipal Mechanics Union also addressed the protesting MC employees during the occasion.
