In the absence of proper fogging by the Municipal Corporation (MC), a local NGO has been conducting fogging in the slums and periphery areas of the city.

NGO Jai Ho Club, led by Vicky Dutta, has been conducting fogging for the last four years in the slums. Dutta claimed that the NGO conducted fogging in those areas where dengue cases were reported. Yesterday, the team conducted fogging in Thande village, where five dengue deaths have been reported.

Dutta said, “Generally, the MC conducts fogging on main roads, but we visit the interior streets with small machines. The dengue prone areas,

especially slums, are our priority. We have conducted fogging in walled city areas”.

After the death of a senior police officer, Jai Ho Club conducted fogging in all police stations and other offices of the department. The NGO also worked in government schools.

“We conducted need-based fogging. Yesterday, we visited Thande village and found a few families worst affected as five members of a family are suffering from a disease,” added Dutta.

The NGO claims of receiving several calls from residents daily to conduct fogging, adding that it has been doing so for the last 45 days, spending Rs 1,500 every day.
