Tourism Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu made a whirlwind tour of several tourist destination sites in the holy city on Sunday.

Accompanied by officials of the Tourism Department and experts, he said more facilities would be added to these spots to make the tourists prolong their stay in the city.

He visited the Heritage Street, Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Temple, Attari border, Pul Kanjri and others sites.

Sidhu said these tourism spots would be promoted and popularised at the international level. The state has immense opportunity for tourism and the overall development of such sites will ensure maximum footfall of visitors, he said.

He informed that the department had identified 18 tourist spots in and around the holy city to be developed and promoted. Hotels with reasonable charges will be made available for tourists.

According to Sidhu, efforts would be made to revive the BRTS project so that crores of rupees invested on the project may not go waste.

Tourism Secretary Vikas Pratap Singh, Director Shivdular Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ravinder Singh along with other officials accompanied the minister.
