Man held, sent to judicial custody

AMBALA: The police have arrested a man in connection with a case involving furnishing of fake certificates by some youths during a recruitment drive by the Army.

The police have arrested a man in connection with a case involving furnishing of fake certificates by some youths during a recruitment drive by the Army. The accused has been identified as Ved Prakash, a resident of Jind. He was produced before a court that sent him to judicial custody.

The accused is a private school operator. He had allegedly provided fake school leaving certificates to three youths, who had produced these for the recruitment drive. Two of the youths have already been arrested.

In February last year, Col Vikram Singh, Director, Army Recruitment, Ambala Cantt, had stated that several youths had committed fraud by producing fake certificates. The police have already arrested 34 youths.

A large number of youths had participated in the drive in Mullana in 2016.

The case

The accused, a private school operator, had allegedly provided fake school leaving certificates to three youths, who had produced these for the recruitment drive. Two of the youths have already been arrested.
