Sitar virtuoso Bhairavi Bhatt (pic) enthralled the audience with a riveting recital at the 241st Baithak programme organised by the Pracheen Kala Kendra at the Mini Tagore Theatre auditorium, here today.

Born in a musical family, she learnt from Sitar maestros. She is in the tutelage of Pandit Dr Harvinder Sharma and had won many national music competitions.

Bhatt bared the serenity and charm of popular raga 'Yaman'  while establishing the raga form through methodical and reposeful 'alap' which later melted into 'jod-alap' and 'jod-jhala'.

Bhatt presented a composition (gat) in slow paced 'Vilambit laya' set to 'ek tal' before a fast-paced 'drut' in 'teen tal', concluding the raga recital with a crisp and captivating 'jhalla'.

She then moved on to present 'drut' composition set to 'teen taal'.

Bhatt concluded her recital with a 'dhun' in 'raga Mishar'. She was accompanied by her life partner and 'tabla' exponent Madhuresh Bhatt on rhythm.
