13 students land jobs during placement drive

BATHINDA: An internship-cum-placement drive for the final year students of BTech and MCA of Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology was held on the college premises recently.

An internship-cum-placement drive for the final year students of BTech and MCA of Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology was held on the college premises recently.

Students from the department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE); Electronics and Communication Engineering; and Master of Computer Applications participated in the drive. Intersoft Professional, Mohali; SwipeCubes Softs Pvt Ltd, Mohali; and IBM business partners visited the campus.

The companies shortlisted the students on the basis of an aptitude and mental ability test. The shortlisted students appeared for an interview. Intersoft Professiinal, Mohali, selected seven students and IBM business partners selected three students of Computer Science and Engineering Department. SwipeCubes Softs Pvt Ltd, Mohali, selected two students of CSE and one student of MCA.

The students will get a stipend of upto Rs 8,000 during their training period and an annual minimum package of Rs 1.56 lakh after finishing the training period. IBM business partners selected the students for training, which will include a chance to work on live projects and a certificate with 100 per cent scholarship.

Harish Gupta, Ritika and Alisha were selected by SwipeCubes Softs Pvt Ltd. The seven students selected by Intersoft Professional are Mani Jindal, Sudiksha, Gagandeep Bansal, Jitan, Harish, Sahil Garg and Sarvesh Saini.

The department also organised several workshops to enhance the technical knowledge of the students and to help students to get jobs. The students were given intensive training and imparted skills for the aptitude test and the interview.

Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, appreciated the efforts and said making students job-ready was our main focus.

Professor Jasveer Singh Hundal, registrar, said the university was taking major initiatives for training and placement of the students in prestigious companies.

Campus director Prof Gursharan Singh congratulated the selected students. Dr Naresh Gargh, head of the department, said many organisations would visit the institute in coming days.
