A local court today denied anticipatory bail to an accused in a rape case. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge dismissed the anticipatory bail application of accused Ankit.

In a complaint filed on April 23, 2019, the victim stated that after one year live-in relationship, the accused refused to marry her. She alleged that the accused had raped her for one year on the pretext of marriage. The victim had also named family members of the accused in the compliant. However, the defence counsel stated that the complainant did not disclose to the accused that she was a divorcee and had a son.

The defence counsel stated that their marriage was fixed, but when the accused came to know about her previous marriage, he refused to marry her. After hearing the arguments, the court dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of the accused.
