Eight wagons of a goods train loaded with coal derailed on the Delhi-Rohtak railway line near Kharawar station here on Sunday morning. The rail track near the mishap site also got damaged badly forcing the authorities to stop traffic on the line with immediate effect. No human loss was reported while the exact reason behind the incident will be ascertained after the inquiry. A team of railway officials led by Divisional Railway Manager Dimpi Garg from Delhi also reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

Sources said the train was heading towards Suratgarh from Delhi via Rohtak when the incident took place at around 10 am. The eight bogies derailed were among 10 rear bogies of the train, which got separated from front bogies. The coal got spilled over both the rail tracks near the mishap leading to route blockade. The loco pilot, guard and other officials were safe.

Railway officials from Rohtak reached the spot on getting the information about the mishap. Later, they informed the Delhi office about it and requested to send a team to repair the track and clear the route by lifting the damaged wagons from there.

BS Meena, Station Master, Rohtak, said the route of other passengers and goods trains on the line had been diverted as the main track was likely to be readied for movement by tomorrow morning. He was on the spot and to take stock of the situation. Efforts were being made to clear the track at the earliest, he added.

“No one was injured in the accident. An investigation has been initiated to find out the reasons behind the mishap. Eight bogies derailed when the goods train was going towards Suratgarh from Delhi,” he added.
