Woman concocted rape story: Police

The Shamli police on Friday termed as concocted the complaint by a woman that she was raped in front of her husband on the Karnal-Meerut road near Shamli on Thursday afternoon.

The police stated that the woman and her husband had cooked up the story as they had a monetary dispute with the accused.

“During investigation, the couple admitted that they had concocted the story to implicate the accused as they were involved in a monetary dispute,” said Ajay Pratap Singh, Shamli ASP.

“On the complaint of the woman, we had registered an FIR against four persons. But now, the complaint has turned out to be false,” he said.

The woman, a resident of Sector 6 in Karnal, reported on Thursday that she and her husband were going on motorcycle to Taprana village in Uttar Pradesh for some work.

She reported that on the way, they enquired about the route to the village from four persons sitting on the bank of a canal.

In her complaint, she stated that the four persons followed them on a motorcycle and later forced them to stop their motorcycle at gunpoint.

She added that the four persons thrashed them and tied up her husband, after which one of them raped her in front of her husband.

Sources said the police would take action against the woman, aged around 30 years, under various relevant sections of the IPC.
