SIT to probe Jindan murder

SHIMLA: As public outcry over the killing of Dalit leader Kedar Singh Jindan, who was crushed by a Scorpio on September 7 at Bakras village in Shillai subdivision of Sirmaur district, continued, the police on Tuesday constituted a six-members Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.

As public outcry over the killing of Dalit leader Kedar Singh Jindan, who was crushed by a Scorpio on September 7 at Bakras village in Shillai subdivision of Sirmaur district, continued, the police on Tuesday constituted a six-members Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.

SIT, headed by ASP, Sirmaur, Virender Thakur, has DSP Dushyant Sarpal, Sub-Inspector Jeet Ram and ASIs Mohar Singh, Vidhi Chand and Vinod as its members. No policeman from the Shillai police station has been included in it. The post-mortem report has confirmed that Jindan was hit by a rod before being crushed by a Scorpio. Two witnesses have been provided the numbers of DIG, SP and DSP and security would be given to them whenever they approach the police, sources said. Meanwhile, an agitation was held in Sirmaur as protesters demanded removal of the SC/ST Act. — TNS
