Miscreants attack 2 bike-borne youths

Mahilpur (Hoshiarpur), July 18

Two youths riding a motorcycle were attacked by a group of youngsters, who were travelling in a car. The accused attacked them with sharp weapons on Wednesday evening at Bahowal village near here.

When one of them tried to enter into a farm, the accused shot three bullets at him. The seriously injured youth was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur, for treatment, from where he was referred to another hospital due to his serious condition. Meanwhile, the other youth escaped from the spot.

A resident of Ghago Roadan Wali village, Baljeet Singh, alias Honey Sahota, was going on his bullet motorcycle from Mahilpur, along with his cousin Harpreet Singh, a resident of Barian Kalan, on Wednesday evening.

When they reached near Bahowal, four youths in a white car coming from the rear side hit their bike and attacked them with sharp weapons. However, Harpreet managed to flee the spot while Baljeet entered a maize farm. The attackers fired three bullets at him, which hit his leg and stomach. Later, they attacked him with sharp weapons and injured him severely. They also fired in the air to scare people. The police were informed by some residents. Later, police officials reached the spot. As per eyewitnesses, the accused continued to drag the victim and later fled the spot, considering him dead. — OC
