Ludhiana, September 3
Three alumni of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, PAU, Ludhiana, Dr Ramesh Kanwar, Dr Shiv Om Prasher and Dr Prasanta Kalita, have been awarded by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ASABE) at their virtual annual international conference and meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. Dr Prasher and Dr Kalita have been students of Dr Kanwar.
Dr Kanwar, the Charles F Curtiss Distinguished Professor of Water Resources Engineering, IOWA State University, has been awarded the prestigious ADS/Hancor Soil and Water Engineering Award by the ASABE. Dr Ramesh had been a consultant to the World Bank, GEF, UNDP, USAID, NATO, FAO.
Dr Shiv Om Prasher, PE, Distinguished James McGill Professor, Bioresource Engineering, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, was honoured by induction as ASABE Fellow for his devoted service to the profession of soil and water engineering. In 2016, Canadian Society for Bioengineering awarded him the Maple Leaf Award which is the highest award made by the Society in recognition of leadership in the profession.
Dr Prasanta Kalita, professor, Soil and Water Resources Engineering in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department and a Presidential Fellow of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), has been honoured with the Kishida International Award by ASABE in July this year.
