A delegation of Israel’s Punjabi community on Thursday met Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, seeking assistance in procuring land for building a gurdwara, an official press release said.

The community also sought his help in securing permission from the local authorities to hold religious functions independently. The CM assured the delegation that he would ask India’s Ambassador in Israel, Pavan Kapoor, to help them.

The CM clarified that he had been informed by the embassy officials that the local administration had strict guidelines on these issues. “The embassy will see what can be done,” he said.

The delegation also raised the issue of illegal agents duping Punjabi youths seeking visa for Israel. Capt Amarinder told them that his government was already cracking down on such agents.

On his last day of his Israel visit, the CM visited the Afikim dairy farm to watch the techniques being deployed to boost dairy farming. He discussed with the officials various varieties of fodder. He was informed that as against 10-15 litres a day, the average daily production of milk per cow was 40 litres on the farm.
