Illegal power connections in forest area

Faridabad: Illegal power connections are being given in the reserved forest area of the Aravallis. In view of a ban on all commercial activities in this part by the Supreme Court, the land mafia, in association with the certain corrupt officials, has been getting power supply connections without the NOC from the forest or other department concerned. Examples of the violation can be noticed on the main roads in Surajkund area here where illegal connections have been released to liquor vends or private constructions which have come up in large numbers over the past few years. Though the matter has been raised with the authorities concerned several times, no action has been taken against either the land mafia or DHBVN officials who were perhaps hand in glove in the gross violation of the Supreme Court order. — Varun Sheokand

Parking lot in poor condition

Gurugram: The plight of the parking slot in Sector 29, Gurugram, is deplorable. There are several establishments where thousands of visitors come. But the heap of garbage is not removed for many days. Flies aggravate the situation further. The government has been spending heavily on the Swachhta campaign, but the people neither respect the law nor are they sensitive towards their moral duties. The need of the hour is to take punitive action against violators so that the message reaches everyone. — Gian Parkash

Stagnant ponds

Narwana: While coming from Tohana to Narwana, one is greeted with endless ponds of stagnant water with garbage on the banks when we just enter Narwana after crossing the railway crossing. This has been the situation for not just one or two years, but as long as one can remember. All types of stray animals sit inside these and rural folk walking around those is a common sight. — Ramesh Gupta

Accident-prone area

Kurukshetra: On GT Road at Kurukshetra just before the Pipli flyover, there is an exit point. At this point, vehicles coming from Delhi side change their route to enter Kurukshetra City and go towards Ladwa/Yamunanagar. The majority of vehicles change roads at this exit point at very high speed. At the same time, vehicles coming from the service road also approach Pipli side and many of them change track from the service road to GT Road to move towards Ambala side. There are no warning traffic lights. This specific point is a highly accident-prone area. The administration should immediately erect warning traffic lights. Secondly, a few yards earlier, an exit sign exists but without speed limit warning. This exit signboard also needs to be updated with a mention of speed limit. It is the right time to take prompt action. Otherwise, a major accident could happen anytime. — Ravi Bhushan
