Four killed, 3 hurt in Barnala mishap

BARNALA: Four youths died and three others were injured when the Tempo Traveller they were travelling in collided with a truck near Nialuwal village in the district in the wee hours of Saturday.

Four youths died and three others were injured when the Tempo Traveller they were travelling in collided with a truck near Nialuwal village in the district in the wee hours of Saturday. The Mehal Kalan police have registered a case.

Mehal Kalan SHO Pargat Singh said seven persons, working for a catering company, were going back to Ludhiana after a function in Sirsa on Friday night. When they reached near Nialuwal village around 4:45 am, the Tempo Traveller collided head on with an apple-loaded truck, which was coming from Jammu and was on its way to Bathinda.

“During a preliminary investigation, it has come to light that the Tempo Traveller driver lost control over the vehicle. Four Tempo occupants died on the spot, while three others, including the driver, suffered injuries. We have registered a case against the Tempo Traveller driver, who is admitted to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, His condition is stated to be serious,” said the SHO.

The deceased were identified as Ram Bilas (26), Sachin Kumar (19), Pappu Singh (24) and Sawan Kumar (19).
