Chandigarh: The Burail jail authorities recovered two mobile phones and a charger concealed in the floor of a washroom during a surprise check. The authorities had specific information about the presence of two phones. Head Warder Haman Singh and Warder Parminder Singh carried out a surprise check in the washroom of barrack No. 4. Jail officials said part of the floor was excavated and two phones, a charger and data cable were recovered from a cavity made in the floor under the tiles. No SIM card was, however, found from the mobile phones. The police were informed about the seizure, following which a case under Section 52A-(1) of the Prisons Act was registered at the Sector 49 police station. TNS
Association holds panel discussion
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Management Association (CMA), Chandigarh chapter of the All-India Management Association, organised a panel discussion on “white collar crime – financial frauds and support available”, in Chandigarh. The panel had Jasdeep Singh, AIG, Punjab Police, as one of the key speakers. Jasdeep Singh shared various modus operandi adopted by cyber thieves. He even discussed the issues of ATM theft, risk involved in cryptocurrency and phishing. Jogeshwar Pratap Singh, a former banker, shared his views on the vulnerability of the consumer’s financial information. TNS
Mohali’s Jasnoor swims to glory
Chandigarh: Mohali swimmer Jasnoor Kaur won a silver medal in the 48th Junior National Aquatic Championship at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. Jasnoor achieved the second position in the 50m freestyle event by clocking 27:39 seconds. Jasnoor trains under coach Johny Bhatia at the indoor swimming centre, Mohali. In the latest edition of the Khelo India Youth Games held in Panchkula, she had won a silver medal in 50m freestyle event. In 2019, the Mohali swimmer had clinched three gold medals.
