Chandigarh, February 6

The Chandigarh bowlers bundled out Mizoram for 122 runs in their second essay to register an innings and 356-run win on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Plate Group match at the Mahajan Cricket Ground here today.

Resuming at 48/3, the Mizoram batsmen once again failed to put up a fight and succumbed to the guile of left-arm spinner Gurinder Singh and off-spinner Arpit Pannu. The duo claimed five of the seven wickets that fell on Day 3.

Skipper KB Pawan, who was batting on 11 yesterday, was the first to go this morning. He was caught by Kunal Mahajan off medium-pacer Jaskarn Singh after adding 17 runs to his overnight tally.

Gurinder then got into the act and removed Sumit Lama on 15 to reduce the visitors to 76/5. Uday Kumar Abhay was run out by wicketkeeper Uday Kaul on 6 before Pannu got rid of Lalruatdika Lalsim and Lalhruai Ralte within the space of 14 balls. While Lalruatdika was stumped by Kaul on 13, Ralte was cleaned up by the off-spinner on 6.

G Lalbiakvela fell to Gurinder on 6 and Bobby was castled by Pannu on 17 as Mizoram folded up their innings on 122. Henry remained not out on naught.

Mizoram in their first innings had made 109 runs. Chandigarh, in reply, declared their innings closed on 587/5, with Kaul scoring an unbeaten 212.

Chandigarh now have 36 points from eight matches and are placed third behind table-toppers Goa (43) and Pondicherry (41) in the Plate Group.

The Manan Vohra-led team will face Manipur in their last-round match at Kolkata from February.

Ranji Trophy

Mizoram 109 and 122 all out (KB Pawan 28, Taruwar Kohli 19; Arpit Singh 3/30, Gurinder Singh 3/31) lost to Chandigarh 587/5 declared (Uday Kaul 212*, Ankit Kaushik 177, Raman Bishnoi 139; Sumit Lama 2/76, Lalhruai Ralte 2/137)
