Jalandhar, October 12

Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner-cum-Director General, Pushpa Gujral Science City, Mohammad Tayyab, today relaunched ‘Everest’, a large-format film in the Space Theatre of the Science City.

Tayyab said the Science City had received overwhelming response not only in the state but also from other parts of the country as well. Around 40 lakh visitors have visited the place so far ever since it opened to public on March 20, 2005.

He said the Space Theatre was a world-class attraction in a 23-m dia tilted dome with a seating capacity of 328. The full dome screen with large format ultra 70 projection system provides an immersible experience to its visitors.

He said ‘Everest’ has been re-launched on huge public demand since its last screening in 2006.

Tayyab said ‘Great Shark’, ‘Africa the Serengeti’, ‘Mystery of the Nile’, ‘Alps’, ‘The Magic of Flight’, ‘Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk’, ‘Adventures in Wild California’ and ‘American National Park’ include the other large-format films which had so far been screened in the Space Theatre.

He said ‘Everest’ that is being re-launched depicts the beauty of mighty Himalayas as well as challenges faced by mountaineers while climbing. He said the film was a story of courage, determination and fearlessness, hence, it would inspire our young generation.

Tayyab also inaugurated a toy train exhibit set up at the Science City, gifted by the Union Ministry of Railways.

He said static diesel engine with three bogies revamped with attractive and artistic looks would not only showcase the old technology of the Indian Railways of a gone-by era to the coming generation but would also be a centre of attraction to Science City visitors for photo shoots. An eco-friendly battery driven trackless train was already operational to enjoy the beauty of various parks on the Science City premises.
