In a tragic accident during the road widening in Sector 81 today, a four-year-old girl died after being buried under the debris of a wall while she was sleeping. Enraged locals apprehended the JCB machine driver, beat him up and later handed him over to the police. An FIR was registered against the JCB driver at the Kherki Daula police station, and the driver was subsequently arrested.

The deceased, identified as Jasmine, and her family hail from Dinajpur in West Bengal. Sadly, the incident occurred on her birthday.

According to the police, the tragedy unfolded near the Bengali market in Sector 81 around 12.30 pm during the road widening work by the Manesar Municipal Corporation. Some shed-like huts were constructed on the roadside, and while digging the road, the JCB collided with a wall that collapsed. On the other side of the 10-foot wall, the girl, who was sleeping inside the hut, tragically lost her life after being buried under the debris.

At the time of the incident, the girl’s mother was at work. Nearby residents and other family members managed to extract the girl from under the debris, but she had already succumbed to her injuries. The police were summoned, and upon arrival, they seized the JCB and took it, along with the driver, to the police station.

Inspector Ajay Malik, SHO of the Kherki Daula police station, stated, “An FIR has been registered, and we have arrested JCB driver Ram Kishore.”
