Congress’s central observer and Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday said there was no problem in the crisis-hit Himachal Pradesh Congress and the state government will complete its five-year term.
He said that PWD minister Vikramaditya Singh has withdrawn his resignation and will attend the Cabinet meeting.
Addressing mediapersons here, Shivakumar said that the issues were sorted out and all the MLAs were heard.
Shivakumar made the remarks after holding a meeting with all party MLAs in the presence of CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, state party chief Pratibha Singh, and party’s central observer Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
“It is unfortunate that Congress lost the Rajya Sabha seat for which the CM had taken full responsibility,” he said.
“We have spoken with CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, HPCC chief Pratibha Singh and all the MLAs, and have sorted out their differences and will work together to strenghten the party,” added Shivakumar.
He said a six-member coordination committee, including CM Sukhu, Pratibha Singh and deputy CM, was being constituted to take care of all the issues. The party’s state chief has also assured full support to the government, he said.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the party will work united for ensuring victory in Lok Sabha election.
Shivakumar said that all party legislators stand united and ‘operation lotus’ will not succeed. Remaining evasive about CM Sukhu continuing, Shivakumar said the Congress government will complete five years.
Meanwhile, CM Sukhu said the BJP tried to destabilise the duly elected government. He said BJP did not have majority in the House and whip is not applicable in Rajya Sabha.
The CM said the six rebel Congress MLAs will not be able to face the people of the state. He said the government will complete five years despite BJP’s 'petty' politics to grab power.
Sukhu said the party is willing to forgive and take back the six rebel MLAs. He said the wives of two MLAs have come and met him.
State party chief Pratibha Singh said it was very unfortunate that Abhishek Manu Singhvi lost the Rajya Sabha poll.
“Now the challenge before us is to work unitedly for the Lok Sabha elections,” she said, adding that “some issues have been resolved and the party is strong as always.”
“I only want there should be proper coordination between the party and government,” she said.
