Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today stressed the need to preserve and promote the treasure of spiritual knowledge enshrined in Bhagvad Gita and underlined the importance of teaching it to younger generation.
Thakur said this while inaugurating the 5th International Geeta Seminar organised by Kurukshetra Development Board at Kurukshetra today on the theme of ‘Satat Astitva aur Shreemad Bhagvad Gita Darshan’ on the occasion of International Gita Mahotsav being held from December 17 to 25.
He said that Bhagavad Geeta teaches about the doctrine of karma and reverence to our duty without expecting results.
Lauding the endeavour, he said that it would enable young generation to access the wisdom of Geeta.
He said though Covid has posed a lot of challenges it has united families and people through technology besides strengthened family bonds especially in villages.
He congratulated the Haryana Government for its efforts in promoting Bhagvad Geeta by organising Geeta Jayanti which has grown into a mega event. He also released a book and souvenir on the occasion.
Earlier, Thakur performed puja at Brahmasarovar and participated in the hawan. A video message of Haryana Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya was also presented on the occasion.
