Two nabbed on gambling charge

Ludhiana: The Haibowal police have nabbed two persons on the charge of gambling. They have been identified as Shakti Sharma and Vinod Parswan of the Jassian road. The investigating officer, ASI Gurmel Singh, said acting on secret information, a raid was conducted at a vacant plot from where both suspects were caught gambling. The police also recovered Rs 1,170 from the spot. A case under the Gambling Act has been registered against them. TNS

Man held with illicit liquor

Ludhiana: The Ladhowal police have nabbed a liquor peddler and recovered 140 cases of illicit liquor from his possession. The suspect has been identified as Dwarka Das of Ladhowal. His son Jarnail Singh gave the police the slip. The police said the suspect had kept a huge stock of illicit liquor in his fields. A case under the Excise Act has been registered and raids were being conducted to nab Jarnail. TNS

Minor girl kidnapped

Ludhiana: A man abducted a 16-year-old girl from her house in Jamalpur. He has been identified as Abhishek. The complainant, Anita Rani told the police that the suspect wanted to marry her daughter for the past six months he followed her all the time. On September 23, Abhishek, along with his mother, sister and some other persons barged into her house. He scuffled with the family and abducted her daughter. TNS
