Amid reports of widespread rigging of votes in the recently held general elections on February 8, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, citing constitutional violations, as reported by ARY News.

Pti-backed candidates on top with 93 seats

PTI-backed Independents: 93 | PML-N: 73 | PPP: 54 | MQM: 17 | Others: 19 (Total seats: 266; poll held on 265)

A PTI leader has sought the resignation from the CEC and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members for violating the constitution. The PTI has claimed the right to form the government.

The party alleges the imposition of Pakistan Democratic Movement 2.0, a coalition government to be formed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), after rigged elections and people’s rejection of dishonest parties through their votes, ARY News reported.

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, a PTI leader, announced the party’s intent to govern at the Centre, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He hinted at an alliance with Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen to secure reserved seats.
