Minor kidnapped, returns home

AMRITSAR: A-12-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by five persons, including a woman, from Rayya here on Sunday.

A-12-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by five persons, including a woman, from Rayya here on Sunday. However, she was left outside her village by them the next day.

The police have registered a case of abduction against unknown persons and further investigations were underway.

The mother of the victim informed the police that her daughter received a call from an unknown woman, who claimed that her friends were calling her. When the girl reached near Rayya canal bus stop, she saw a while car, the mother added. There were four persons in the car and one of them had a tattoo ‘Aujla’ scribbled on his arm. She said one of the youth came out of the car and put a piece of cloth on her face and bundled her into the car. Later she fell unconscious.

She said the accused took her daughter to an undisclosed place and next day at around 9.30 am, the woman who had called her also reached there. She said the woman told her that they were going somewhere and therefore the woman took her to Amritsar bus stand from where they hired a bus for Rayya. She said the accused woman left her outside her village street and fled with the youth in the car. She said when her daughter regained consciousness, they informed the police.

Simarjit Kaur, investigating officer, said, the medical examination of the girl was conducted and her statement was recorded before the magistrate.

The police have registered a case under Sections 363 and 366-A of the IPC and Section 8 of the POCSO Act at the Beas police station.

She said it appeared that the accused got afraid as the police had launched a manhunt to recover the girl. She said the police were scrutinising the call received by the victim to nab the suspects.
