Master Cadre Union seeks regular jobs

BATHINDA: Members of the 5178 Master Cadre Union has demanded that the state government must issue a notification regarding the regularisation of jobs and pay increase at the earliest.

Bathinda, December 5

Members of the 5178 Master Cadre Union has demanded that the state government must issue a notification regarding the regularisation of jobs and pay increase at the earliest.

Members of the union along with the Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha had been conducting protest rallies for almost two months. Ahead of a state-wide protest on December 2, the state Education Department promised to review and come up with a viable solution in the matter.

Kulwinder Singh, president of the union, said, “The government has assured us that our jobs will be regularised and we will start getting full pay from January next year. Now we demand that the state government must issue a notification to officially confirm that we will be regularised soon.”

He said, “After passing the TET exam conducted by the state government, we have been working for a very low salary since December 2014. As per the appointment letter, their jobs had to be regularised after three years. Despite assuring them of providing appointment letters with regard to regularisation, the government kept delaying the matter for around a year.”

Teachers recruited under the 5178 master cadre in November 2014 had been getting a salary of Rs 6,000 per month since then. The state government had appointed these teachers on the condition that their services would be regularised after three years of appointment and given full salary. Though they have completed three years in service in November 2017, they were not regularised as promised. Since then these teachers have been demanding regularisation of jobs and staging a protest against the Education Department and the state government. — TNS
