City-based Dr Bharat Kotru took part in poster presentation under the section diabetic foot stream on “Intervention of self care education in chronic diabetic foot ulcer to increase the rate of wound heal ability by wound healing trajectories” at IDF 2017 Congress organised by the International Diabetes Federation held in Abu Dhabi.
It has already published in the World Council of Enterostomal Therapists Journal (WCETJ) published in the US. He was awarded the certification of appreciation and a memento for the presentation.
As many as 7,534 participants from 182 countries attended the scientific programme that provided the latest developments in diabetes clinical practice, management, education, prevalence and public health issues. Over 300 speakers shared their knowledge and 1,000 posters were displayed and discussed in lively e-poster sessions.
Dr Kotru spoke about the prevalence of diabetic foot complications in the population of Punjab. The presence of peripheral neuropathy, peripheral arterial disease and foot deformity, lack of foot care awareness and use of faulty foot wear is considered to be the most significant risk factors for all types of diabetic foot complications.
