Accusing Orbit bus employees of beating up their colleague, PRTC employees staged a protest here on Friday.

According to information, on Friday, when a PRTC employee had gone to talk to Orbit bus employees about the incident that took place at the Patiala bus stand in which a PRTC conductor was reportedly beaten up over a dispute related to timetable, the Orbit bus employees started thrashing him.

Irked over it, the PRTC workers blocked traffic outside the bus stand and raised slogans against the Orbit bus employees. They demanded registration of a case against the Orbit employees for beating up their colleague. During the protest, no bus was allowed to leave or enter the bus stand.

Seeing the situation, a police team, including SHO of the Kotwali police station Sunil Kumar, reached the spot and tried to resolve the issue.

According to information, PRTC bus conductor Balwinder Singh said, “On Thursday, Orbit bus workers were involved into a scuffle over the timetable at the Patiala bus stand. Besides abusing, they beat me up. I had informed about the incident to a Bathinda PRTC employee.”

It is learnt that by the evening, the matter was resolved after between both parties reached a compromise.
