Date for collecting admission forms extended till December 25 for EWS

CHANDIGARH: As the DC office is yet to issue income certificates, the date for issue and receipt of admission forms has been extended till December 25 for the applicants belonging to the economically weaker section (EWS) category.

As the DC office is yet to issue income certificates, the date for issue and receipt of admission forms has been extended till December 25 for the applicants belonging to the economically weaker section (EWS) category.

Children belonging to the EWS, seeking admission for 2019-20 in the entry classes, under Section 12(1)(c) of Right to Education Act 2009, in unaided private schools have been given additional eleven days till the DC gives a final word on the issue. Earlier, issue and receipt of forms was to end by December 14.

BL Sharma, Chandigarh Education Secretary, said: “We are moving a proposal and will submit it to the Governor and Advisor and decision will be taken in a couple of days. If the need arises, admission dates will also be postponed.”

Getting income certificates strenuous: Parents

Parents say that the process of obtainig income certificates from Sampark Centres is a tiresome exercise. According to the official website, the issuance of income certificates for students at Sampark Centres requires 12 days.

Nitin Goyal, president of the Chandigarh Parents Association, said: “Parents first have to stand in long queues at Sampark Centres and face problems. It will be difficult for them to acquire certificate in a short time, even though the date has been extended.”

Schools refrain from disclosing accounts: Edu Sec

Private schools have been lamenting that admitting EWS children to unaided schools cost them dear in the wake of delay in the reimbursement of fee by the Education Department. However, the Education Secretary said: “Private schools have to show their accounts to claim the reimbursement, but some of them neither disclose their accounts nor claim reimbursement. Naturally, there is a delay in the process. We have pulled up the process and dues will be paid accordingly. A blueprint for three years is being worked out with respect to the reimbursement.”
