Kalka BJP leader, kin attacked

PANCHKULA:Over 20 people, armed with a pistol and sharp weapons, entered the house of a BJP leader in Kalka and attacked him and his family members this evening.

Panchkula, December 8

Over 20 people, armed with a pistol and sharp weapons, entered the house of a BJP leader in Kalka and attacked him and his family members this evening. BJP leader Sham Lal (33), a resident of Tagra village in Kalka, was sitting with his family members when they were attacked.

His father Rati Ram said the accused also opened fire and Sham Lal was hit by splinters. They also attacked the other family members with sharp weapons. The accused had come in cars.

The injured family members were taken to the General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula. Sham Lal received injuries on his head, legs and arms. The other family members, including his father and niece, received injuries on the legs and arms. 

Sources said the assailants were local residents and the attack was the result of old enmity. The police are looking into the matter. — TNS
