Panel warns schools against irregularities

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Right (CCPCR) took a suo-moto action following allegations against schools for indulging in irregularities.

Chandigarh, April 25

The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Right (CCPCR) took a suo-moto action following allegations against schools for indulging in irregularities.

The commission has taken the action into the incident where a five-year-old child sustained a cut on the thumb and received six stitches. The commission observed that in case of any trauma due to an incident, the school will bear the medical expenses and compensate the student’s family.

Parents of four students of KB DAV School in Sector 7 had filed a complaint regarding the discrepancy in the annual result. The commission directed the school management and parents to resolve the issue amicably.

Renu Puri, Deputy DEO, and Superintendent Engineer attended a meeting with the commission. Officers of the Engineering Department told the commission that they had not received the inspection report from the Education Department so far which is necessary for taking further action. Renu Puri, Dy DEO, assured them that the inspection report would be sent to the Engineering Department soon. —TNS
