CHANDIGARH:Sargam Singla packed off Simar Atwal 6-0 6-1 in the opening round of the girls’ U-16 category in the ongoing STA-AITA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Championship at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, here, on Monday.

Sargam Singla packed off Simar Atwal 6-0 6-1 in the opening round of the girls’ U-16 category in the ongoing STA-AITA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Championship at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, here, on Monday. 

Khushi Sharma overcame Vedaa Anand 7-5 4-6 6-3, while Ananya Sharma blanked Sehaj Kaur 6-0 6-0 to move into the second round. 

In the boys’ U-14 category, Rijul Bhatia dumped Arpit Dhull 6-0 6-1 in the opening round. Kartikeya Saini drubbed Parth Mehra 6-1 6-1 and Shubham Singh registered an identical win over Anirudh Sangra. 

Ekamjeet Singh edged past Satvik Singla in the boys’ U-16 first round. Ekamjeet won 6-1 6-0. Gurpuneet Singh humbled Pratham Gopal Krishan 6-4 6-4, while Harwin Munjal downed Chaitanya Bansal 6-1 7-5.

Namish Sharma dispatched Parth Mehra 6-1 6-0 to move into the boys’ U-16 second round. 

In the girls’ U-14 opening round, Rubani Sidhu mastered Shriya Harpal 6-0 6-2, while Jigyasa Narsinghani registered a 6-1 6-4 win over Ayushi Prajapat. — TNS
