Swine flu claims another life

CHANDIGARH: A 42-year-old woman, a resident of Bhaskar Colony here, died of swine flu at the PGI late last night.

A 42-year-old woman, a resident of Bhaskar Colony here, died of swine flu at the PGI late last night. She was  admitted to the PGI on February 2 in a critical condition. This is the fourth  swine flu death reported from the tricity since last month. A 28-year-old suspected patient of swine flu was admitted to Fortis Hospital today.

A team of officials of the UT Health Department visited the residence of the woman today and identified 22 residents of the area who came in her contact over the past one week. They were given tamiflu tablets, said the nodal officer for the National Vector-Borne Disease Control Programme, Dr Anil Garg. Besides, 300 houses were surveyed in Bhaskar Colony to identify patients with flu-like symptoms, but no suspected cases were found.

 

Yesterday, a 49-year-old man from Sector 70 in Mohali had died due to swine flu.

On February 1, a 27-year-old woman, a resident of Banur, had died due to Swine Flu. She was referred to thePGI from Gian Sagar Medical College in Banur.

Earlier, on January 19, a 35-year-old native of Khuda Lahora died of swine flu at the PGI. 

In addition to these three deaths, five more patients have been affected with the virus but they were stabilised with tamiflu.
