Two-year-old boy drowns in bucket

Chandigarh, June 18

A two-year-old boy drowned in a bucket of water at his house in Sector 36 on Monday evening.

The victim has been identified as Deepanshu.

The police said the victim’s mother, Sonia, was cooking food in the kitchen when the child, who was playing, went to the bathroom where he accidentally fell into a bucket, leading to his death.

The victim’s elder sister, Priya, saw him in the bucket and informed her mother.

Sources said the victim was rushed to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The victim’s father, Pankaj Upadhyay, runs a canteen.

The family resides in the servant quarters of the house.
