UT police yet to register FIR

CHANDIGARH: The UT police are yet to register an FIR in a complaint regarding an online fraud case worth Rs 37 lakh on a social networking site.

The UT police are yet to register an FIR in a complaint regarding an online fraud case worth Rs 37 lakh on a social networking site.

According to the complaint, the retired government employee was duped by an international gang reportedly from the UK in connivance with Indians by luring him of huge profits in supply of a ‘herbal seed’ used for manufacturing of medicine for epilepsy.

The 62-year-old complainant accused Christina Shulz, who approached him on Facebook and introduced herself as an employee of a Pharmacy company of the UK.

She told him that she had been visiting India on business tours to buy a herbal seed from Delhi and Mumbai-based vendor for Rs 65,000 per sachet and earned a huge profit by supplying the product to her company for US$ 3,000 per sachet.

Rashmi Sharma Yadav, DSP, Cyber Cell, said: “No FIR has been registered so far. An inquiry has been marked in the case. It is a fraud wherein people are contacted on social media and lured for business propositions.” — TNS
