The Chandigarh Police, Narcotics Control Bureau, and Thrill Zone organised ‘Run and Walkathon’ on June 26 to mark International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The walkathon started from Sukhna Lake to Kishangarh roundabout from 5 am to 8 am.

The walkathon was in two parts — 5 km and 10 km. The motive was to make people aware about the harmful effects of drugs.

A large number of participants from schools, volunteers, NCB and Chandigarh Police, took part in the walkathon. The ceremony was flagged off by UT SSP Eish Singhal who was the chief guest on the occasion.

Kaustubh Sharma, DIG/NCB, Kuldeep Sharma, DSP/NCB, DSP Pawan Kumar, DSP Jaswinder Singh, DSP Ram Gopal, and social worker Mohinder Kaur Kataria were present.

Kaustubh Sharma emphasised that the parents should make their children aware about the wrongful effects of drugs on human body and also keep a tab over their children’s activities by spending more time with them. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, along with the distribution of refreshment among the participants.  — TNS
