With an eye on two parliamentary constituencies with sizable minority votes, the BJP has sought the help of Urdu press for coverage.

In East Delhi, 21 per cent of the electorate is Muslim, while in North East Delhi, it's 20 per cent. Therefore, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari has sought the coverage for the party in Urdu print and electronic media.

The move can also benefit its contestants in Chandni Chowk and South Delhi parliamentary constituencies. In Chandni Chowk, Muslims consist 13 per cent of the population whereas in South Delhi, it's seven percent.

Sources said Tiwari wanted the Urdu press to disseminate correct message in the community that the BJP gave equal opportunity to all.

The sources said Tiwari's request came after Urdu periodicals avoided the news stories concerning the BJP. Following the BJP MP's outreach, the party started getting the coverage.

A similar meeting was called by the ex-Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken, but he could not get a good response, the sources said.
