Markets in South Delhi remained closed today in protest against the sealing drive while traders’ body the Confederation of All India Traders stated it would give a call for a “city bandh” if their grievances were not heard.

The demanded immediate and direct intervention of Home Minister Rajnath Singh and urged him to initiate dialogue with a traders’ delegation. The traders’ body also demanded Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to notify the 351 road stretches that the municipal corporation had long declared for missed land use.

Traders also questioned the logic for conversion charges on old markets stating that if its concerns are not addressed, all traders would go for a whole city bandh against the sealing exercise undertaken on the directions of a Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee.
