The Swaraj India has launched “Jawaab Do, Hisaab Do” campaign against corruption and black money. It will culminate in a massive rally on February 12 in Ramlila Ground. The campaign will be Swaraj India’s election bugle for municipal elections to be held in March or April.

The initiative has been aptly titled as the Swaraj India is a forum for the common man to question the government and its representatives. The month-long grassroots campaign hopes to bring to fore the true picture of the health of Delhi’s basic municipal facilities. It will be a real reflection of the state of affairs in Delhi, party’s national spokesperson Anupam said.

The February 12 event at Ramlila Maidan would be seen as the launch of Swaraj India’s MCD election campaign, he said.

Addressing mediapersons, Anupam said, “Delhi has three levels of the government — the Centre, the state and the municipal bodies — but its a pity that all three have abandoned the national capital. None of these governments is genuinely concerned to solve the real problems of the common people.”

He said today the citizens of Delhi were raising slogans of “Teen Sarkar, Teeno Bekaar”.

He said party volunteers would establish contact with nearly 10 lakh households under the “Jawab Do, Hisaab Do” campaign and attempt to understand their civic-related grievances.

Anupam said in this situation, Swaraj India would provide a meaningful agenda for Delhi. Various issues directly related to the common people of Delhi come under the purview of the MCD.

He said Swaraj India would make the MCD campaigns an agenda-based election, which unfortunately had not been happening because political parties show no interest in local bodies such as panchayats and corporations.

Swaraj India, which was formed on October 2 last year by Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, had announced that it will contest all 272 seats in the MCD polls.
