A team of veterinary scientists from the Departments of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the Dr GC Negi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences organised six clinical camps in remote villages of Sirmaur district on Friday.

The camps were organised at Barma-Papdi, Sataun, Jamna, Khala-Kyar, Nauradhar and Bhalta-Macher villages and benefited around 215 livestock keepers. The camps were organised under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) project to investigate the incidence of infertility in bovines of Himachal.

Dr Madhumeet Singh, professor and team leader, said blood samples and uterine discharge samples were collected and free medicines were distributed to farmers. In the last one and a half years, 80 camps had been organised all over the state, he said.

Around 2,500 livestock keepers brought their animals for treatment at these camps. More such camps would be organised next year also. Dr Pravesh Kumar, Rohit Sharma and Vijay Rana were part of the team.
