More than 12 names were deleted here on Friday during scrutiny of the new voters' list prepared by the Landour Cantonment Board for elections to be organised on January 11.

The scrutiny was supervised by CEO, Landour Cantt Board, P Ajit Reddy, who rejected more than 12 names from the list due to inadequate documents and objections to some members contesting for the Cantt Board election to be organised on January 11.

Arguments were also witnessed between some probable candidates during the process but the matter was sorted out amicably by the Landour Cantt Board CEO.

Some members raised the issue of names appearing in the Municipal Council and the Landour Cantt Board list while some others raised the issue of names of those people who were not residents of the Cantt Board figuring in the voter list. The issue of landlords not providing them the letter mentioning that they were living as rent-holders in their houses due to the fear of increase in assessment charges by the Cantt Board was also raised.

CEO P Ajit Reddy said those whose names had been rejected could come again on December 6, with complete names to be re-listed in the voter list. He said the Landour Cantt Board was gearing up for the board elections to be organised on January 11.

Senior officials from the armed forces were present on the occasion.
