Guv, CM mourn Kalam’s death

SHIMLA: Governor Kalyan Singh and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh have expressed grief over the death of former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam who passed away in Shillong yesterday.

Governor Kalyan Singh and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh have expressed grief over the death of former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam who passed away in Shillong yesterday.

The Governor said Kalam dedicated his life for the service of the nation and his life was an inspiration for every citizen, especially youth and children.

He said his contribution as a President and also as scientist and educationist would be remembered by the nation. Singh prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to family members to bear the irreparable loss.

The Chief Minister said Kalam was a great scientist, a luminary and a statesman of repute. He said no tribute would be enough for this great son of Mother India who was an icon for the children and the youth of the country and a great dedicated teacher until the very end.

He said Kalam inspired the youth to reach for the sky and achieve the unimaginable. The void created by his death could not be filled, he said, adding that his death caused a great loss to the nation and may his soul rest in peace.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker BBL Butail paid rich tributes to Kalam. He said the nation could not forget the contribution of the “Missile Man”. He was a source of inspiration for every child, he added.
