Chandigarh, November 24

While there is a revolt in the BJP over the ticket distribution, city unit president Sanjay Tandon today made it clear that there would be no change in the list of 21 candidates, released by the party on November 22.

Replying to a query on whether there was any possibility of a change in the list of candidates after the revolt in the party, Tandon said the party would not change any candidate. The list announced by the party is final.

Tandon said, “BJP leaders who contest against the official party candidates will be suspended by the party.

Tandon held a meeting with all 21 BJP candidates at the party office in Sector 33 to apprise them of how to file their nomination papers and also to ensure adherence to the guidelines of the Election Commission.

Cong’s 14-year rule vs BJP’s 10-month rule

Tandon said the party would come up with a vision document for the MC elections. Besides, the party would also

highlight “the 14-year Congress rule in the MC as against the 10-month BJP rule under Mayor Arun Sood”. The BJP would go to the people with a list of development works carried out in the past 10 months and also the works done by MP Kirron Kher for the city, Tandon said.

‘Cong leaders involved in booth scam won’t go scot-free’

Tandon said Congress leaders involved in the booth scam would not go scot-free. Asked whether the party was raising the booth scam to draw political mileage in the MC poll, he said the party wasn’t highlighting the issue only before the MC poll. A letter had already been submitted to the UT Deputy Commissioner for completing the probe into the booth scam, Tandon said.
