ONGC to drill borewells on Saraswati’s old course

YAMUNANAGAR: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) will soon drill three borewells on palaeo-channels of Saraswati river in Yamunanagar district.



Yamunanagar, April 29

The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) will soon drill three borewells on palaeo-channels of Saraswati river in Yamunanagar district.

This decision was taken at a meeting presided by Prashant Bhardwaj, deputy chairman, Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board, on April 27.

The ONGC and Haryana Space Applications Centre (HARSAC) will conduct a survey to find suitable locations to drill borewells in the district, said Bhardwaj.

The major objective of the board is rejuvenation of the Sarasvati heritage area, inter-linking of the Saraswati river with canals, water streams and utilisation of ground water paleao- channels. — TNS
