Jammu, March 25

Prof Gul Mohammad Wani, director, UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of Kashmir Studies (UMIKS), University of Kashmir, called on Governor NN Vohra, chairman of the UMIKS governing body, here at the Raj Bhawan today.

Prof Wani briefed the Governor about the academic and co-curricular activities being undertaken at UMIKS, initiatives taken by the institute to attract students from countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperationand efforts being made to invite experienced scholars to deliver lectures at the institute.

The Governor advised Prof Wani to make all possible efforts to see that the institute gains meaning and stature by identifying and addressing existing and emerging challenges that are nationally and regionally important.
