Chandigarh, July 27

In what is being billed as a gift to farmers in the Swaran Jayanti year, the Haryana Government is executing a unique solar power-run micro irrigation pilot project under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana.

This will be the first of its kind project in the country, which will draw energy from solar power, and the grid will be connected to the nearest 11 KV line through a hotline to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

An official spokesman said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would inaugurate the project costing Rs 24.65 crore at Gumthala Garhu Dera Fateh Singh village on July 30.

The Canal Area Development Authority has established the project on micro irrigation with a view to ensuring water supply to every farm.
